FRESH PERSPECTIVES

Fresh Perspectives are landscapes based on places and dreams of places. Personal changes have opened the way for colour and life to enter my work in a new way. This is what I used to dream as a child. Weirdly, before I went above the earth in a plane. The perspective was strange in the dreams and I have recreated it here in the work.

FRESH PERSEPCTIVES: SPRING SNOWFLAKES

This was the first painting in the series. The flowers are Summer Snowflakes. Although the colour palette of blue, green and yellow is similar to Terra Incognita, there is much more calm and serenity. The sky a little turbulent, but calm nevertheless. Initally, the flowers were the subject, the background developed through remeberence of dreams I had when I was a child

FRESH PERSEPCTIVES: DAWN at the EDGE (ALDERLEY)

Dawn at the Edge is the second painting, and was painted prior to Spring Snowflakes being completed. As I kept dreaming of Alderley Edge  a place of my youth and a place very familar to me, I had to paint what I was dreaming, so I took a break from Snowflakes and painted the Edge until completion. There is familarity of place, but also my dreams are visualised here too. I had forgotton the dreams I used to have as a child  until I began to paint Snowflakes and I began to dream them again. Weirdly!

FRESH PERSEPCTIVES:WITHIN an END a BEGINNING

This landscape was a combination of a photograph from Yorkshire and memories of lost summers. Pathways emerge in my work a great deal. The path here leads behind the hill into the unseen,  a new journey, we are at the beginning leaving the familar behind. There is colour and tranquility

Although the colour palette of blue, green and yellow is similar to the Terra Incognita series, there is clearing after the storm. The trees guide you into the landscape and the colour bursts with hope and expectation. There is a new dawn

I use my experiece as a painter and a colourist to explore colour theory and balance in nature

This balance is encapsulated in the green, blue and yellow and the aerial view creates the patchwork of the British Countryside.

This work embraces new life and new beginnings.
